Why stress builds up even when you're doing everything “right”
Most capable people do not become stressed because they are weak or disorganised.
They become stressed because of patterns that once helped them succeed.
For example:
- Over-responsibility: taking on too much because you feel accountable for everything
- Perfectionism: struggling to let things be “good enough”
- People-pleasing: avoiding disappointing others
- Constant mental load: replaying conversations and planning tomorrow long after the workday ends
- Difficulty switching off: your mind keeps running even during rest
- Boundary struggles: saying yes when you want to say no
- High self-pressure: pushing yourself harder than anyone else does
None of these behaviours are irrational. In fact, they likely helped you build the stability or success you have now. But over time they compound. What once worked begins to create decision fatigue, tension, and eventually burnout.
Stress management coaching focuses on identifying these patterns and changing them at the root.
How stress management coaching works
All 1:1 sessions are delivered either online or in-person in Glasgow or Edinburgh. We work through three clear stages:
01
Clarify
We get specific about what is creating stress in your daily life. This might include:
- decisions you keep postponing
- responsibilities you feel unable to delegate
- conversations you are avoiding
- expectations you place on yourself
When these patterns become visible, they become solvable.
02
Shift
Every repeated behaviour has an internal rule behind it.
For example:
- “If I don’t handle this myself, it won’t be done properly.”
- “If I slow down, everything will fall behind.”
- “If I disappoint someone, I’ve failed.”
We examine those rules and adjust them where necessary.
As those beliefs change, your reactions to pressure begin to change as well.Every repeated behaviour has an internal rule behind it.
03
Act
Each session ends with clear actions designed to shift how you operate in real situations.
We review what happens, refine the approach, and continue until the new behaviour becomes natural rather than forced.
Who this work is best suited for
Stress management coaching tends to work best for people who carry a lot of responsibility and hold themselves to high standards.
This often includes:
- High-performing professionals: managers, consultants, executives, healthcare workers, lawyers, academics
- Entrepreneurs and business owners: people who carry responsibility for everything in their work or organisation
- Professionals approaching burnout: not burned out yet, but noticing the pressure building
- People navigating intense life phases: new leadership roles, parenting young children, major career transitions
- Highly conscientious individuals: people who care deeply about doing things well and often place high expectations on themselves
A bit about me
I’m a qualified Transformative Coach trained with Animas Centre for Coaching, one of the UK’s leading coaching institutions.
Before becoming a coach, I spent over seven years working closely with founders, business owners, and senior leaders in the marketing space. That experience gave me direct insight into how capable people think, operate, and the internal standards they hold themselves to.
My approach is structured and grounded in behavioural psychology, identity-level changes, and precise implementation. We don’t stay at insight — we turn it into action. I bring direct challenge when avoidance shows up, and steady support as you build stronger, more consistent ways of operating.

FAQs
Is stress coaching the same as therapy?
No. They do different jobs.
Therapy is often about healing emotional wounds, processing trauma, or treating mental health conditions. Meanwhile, stress coaching is about changing how you think, decide, and act right now.
In our work together, we focus on the patterns shaping your behaviour today. That might mean helping you make decisions without looping for weeks, say no without guilt, follow through instead of procrastinating, or handle pressure without spiralling.
The goal isn’t to analyse your past in depth. It’s to help you operate differently in the present so your results start to change.
If at any point it becomes clear that you would benefit more from clinical mental health support, I will always be honest and guide you in the right direction.
Coaching is for capable people who are functioning, but know they could be operating at a much higher level.
Will this just teach me relaxation techniques?
No. Relaxation techniques can help temporarily, but they rarely address the behaviours that generate stress in the first place. Our work focuses on changing those patterns.
Do I need to be burned out to benefit from coaching?
No. Many clients start coaching when they notice stress building and want to address it early.
How long does stress management coaching take?
Some improvements happen quickly. Deeper behavioural changes typically take a few months of focused work.
What if I try this and it’s not right?
I offer a simple, risk-free guarantee.
If you show up fully for our work together and decide it’s not the right fit, you can end the partnership at any time.
Any unused sessions from your package (if you have one) will be refunded without delay and without awkward conversations.
Your investment should feel safe.
